Farm history
The Unterhagmooshof Farm over the course of time
Our farm has been in existence since the 17th century and has been worked and lived on by many generations. In the olden days crops were grown, which wasn’t easy due to the steep slope location, potatoes were are harvested. But for many years now we have swapped to meadow and dairy farming.
The farmhouse has changed a great deal over the years. Here is a photo dated 1938. It has been constantly enlarged, extended and renovated.
Our grandparents, Anna and Josef Huber took over the farm in 1964. In 1966 they started to rent out rooms. At first with showers and WC’s on the corridor, from 1979 showers and WC were built into each of the guest rooms.
In recent years the rooms have been refurbished and equipped with satellite TV. Thus keeping the spacious rooms in the old buiding up to date.
Lots has also been invested in the farm. Farming equipment suitable for steep terrain was purchased, the stables rebuilt plus mucking system and silos added. In recent years a new oil heating system and a hay crane for the barn were acquired.
In October 1986 Josef Huber died suddenly, meaning Grandma, Anna Huber, had run the farm on her own. Their daughter Anni had married Lois at a young age and moved to Radstadt, Kaspardörfl. There she brought up her three children Ingrid, Werner and Harald.
As young grandson Werner helped out on the farm and with the guests in the school holidays and slowly grow into the job as farmer.
In 2004 Werner and Sieglinde got married and took over the farm in 2005, which they continue to run in a traditional fashion with Grandma’s help. In July 2005 Thomas was born.
2006 was the year of building the annexe. Digging started in April and thanks to lots of help from the family the private rooms and two guests rooms were ready.
In August 2007 Johanna was born and together with her brother Thomas ensure life on our farm – there’s not a dull moment with these two around.
The apartments on the 2nd floor were completed in summer 2008.
In autumn 2009 we added a cosy sauna with a tastefully decorated relaxation room.
Our breakfast room was refurbished in spring 2010 and offers our guests a cosy atmosphere.
In 2012 we renewed the balcony on the main farmhouse and installed a photovoltaic solar panel system, which provides good service due to our many hours of sunshine.
At the beginning of 2014 our daughter Stefanie was born, who has enriched our family and keeps us on our toes. In the spring we extended our playing field with a terrace with wooden platform, so that we now have a lovely area for garden furniture and sun loungers with a fabulous view.
In 2015 we renovated some of the bathrooms in the main farmhouse.
